A new organisation, the WC&P Railway Group was launched in November 2006 for people interested in this railway. We are dedicated to the preservation of this railway as far as is practicable. We now have over 80 members.
We believe that this fascinating railway shouldn’t be allowed to disappear, and hope to persuade local councils and landowners to preserve as much as possible of what remains for posterity. There is perhaps more still visible than many people realise (see The line today) but it would really help if the route was marked e.g. by plaques, notice boards, marker posts etc.
One way to safeguard the route and prevent further building over it, would be to open some more stretches of line as a public footpath or cycleway complete with suitable sign boards with information about the railway. We hope to work with the councils on this. Further details of footpaths & cycleways along the trackbed.
